Collected in the village of Aibigahe on the island of Urama on April 26, 1966 by T.S. Westrum (G442), he notes that in this region this charm is called Mari. The name Marupai is only used in the Purari delta and among the Elema. This incised nut has the particularity of preserving its braided bag, called the okaoka, from which only the Mari’s “mouth” protrudes.
