Shields from the Nipa Valley are generally not carved, but only painted.
This shield features the classic design consisting of a central band, the spine, with two semicircles (sun and moon) on either side.
Carved from “Fel” wood, harder than “Warr” wood, this shield was used by chiefs. Arrows bounce off the shield.
